Cherrill Barton

Dec 8, 1935 — Oct 17, 2026

Cherrill Kay Barton, 90, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away on October 17, 2026. She was born on December 8, 1935, in Ogden, Utah, to Merrill Frank Oyler and Alice Opal Sorensen.

Cherrill married the love of her life, Clark Laws Barton, on April 30, 1953. Together, they built a family and a legacy of love that continues through their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Cherrill loved people unconditionally. She had a remarkable ability to love others wholeheartedly and accept them just as they were. Her kindness, compassion, and love for her family and friends were an important part of who she was.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, and creative writing. She also valued education and had a deep desire for her children and grandchildren to continue learning and gaining knowledge throughout their lives.

Cherrill had a special love for animals, especially koalas, and an extraordinary fondness for babies. That love remained with her throughout her life, and she always kept a baby doll close by, a sweet reflection of her nurturing heart.

Her family remembers her as someone who loved to travel, she spent many years collecting souvenirs from all over the world. She was an avid collector of postcards that she sent out to all her loved ones. She enjoyed creating amusing scrapbooks chronicling her and her family antics through the years. She had a special place in her heart for animals and babies; she kept a cherished babydoll and a stuffed koala with her until the end. She had a guilty pleasure for celebrity gossip and devoured all the pop culture magazines she could get her hands on. She had many adored quirks such as random gift giving and fast-food hoarding. She was always happy to open her home to those that needed a place to stay and offered any help she could give to those in need. She lived her life with a welcoming and loving attitude, inclusive of all with no judgment or discrimination. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of having her in their life.

Her greatest legacy is the family she loved so dearly. She is survived by her children, Laurie (Paul) Anderson and Dale (Kathy) Barton; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Mark Oyler, and her sister, Evonna Oyler.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clark Barton; her daughter, Colleen Kemp; her sons, Alan Barton and Jeff Barton; two grandchildren; and her brother, Dallin Merrill Oyler.

Cherrill will be remembered for her unconditional love, her devotion to family, her curiosity and love of learning, and the warmth she shared with those around her. Her influence will live on through the many generations of family she cherished, and the countless lives touched by her love.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, with viewing beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Lakeview Cemetery. A QR to stream the service for Cherrill can be found in the media tab also labeled "The Life of Cherrill."

Cherrill's life was a beautiful testament to loving others without condition. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
