Cherry Lavaughn McCaghren Shosted.
Cherry’s big, kind, generous heart stopped beating on Sunday June 22, 2025 at the age of 90. Surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born November 17, 1934 in Adair, Oklahoma to Bill and Edith McCaghren. Married George B “Bill” Shosted on December 14, 1954, in Casper Wyoming.
Mom has been a devoted servant to the Lord all of her life. She was an active and key member of the First Baptist Church in Bountiful where she served in many capacities. She was a brownie leader and Girl Scout leader. She graduated from the SLCC with a degree in nursing after her husband passed away and retired from nursing at the VA and Lakeview Hospitals. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed serving a mission in Alaska for her church. She was a member and Queen of the Red Hat Society of Bountiful. She served with Volunteer of America and was a long time volunteer at Lakeview Hospital where she achieved a Humanitarian of the Year Award in 2024. She was always lending a compassionate, loving hand to everyone who came into her life and will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Cherry is Survived by her brother, Felix Claude McCaghren of Union, Ohio. Children, Sharon Shosted of Hurricane, Utah, Deborah (Allen) Orwin of Kearns, Utah, Carolynn (Brad) Ryther of West Jordan, Utah and George W “Billy” Shosted of Mazatlan, Mexico, niece and care giver Marlene Weis, Bountiful Utah. She had 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents William Henry and Edith Mae Callison McCaghren, husband George B “Bill” Shosted, sisters Elsie Mae Regnier, Virginia Sue Weis, brother William Sequoia “Bill” McCaghren. The family would like to thank the staff of Ovation Hospice with a special thanks to Marcy.
Funeral services and celebration of life to be held at 11:00 am on Saturday August 23, 2025 at the Bountiful First Baptist Church, 1950 Orchard Drive, Bountiful, Utah, where family and friends can gather at 10:00 to 10:45 prior to the services. Burial of cremains at Memorial Lakeview Cemetery.
