Clara Nielsen Dunroe

"Our Valentine"

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Clara Christine Nielsen Dunroe, age 94, passed away on July 5, 2009, in Bountiful Utah.

She was born on Valentine's Day, 1915, along with her twin brother, Clarence. She was the 6th of 10 children born to Jens and Caroline Marie Svendsen Nielsen. She was raised in Taylorsville, Utah and graduated from Granite High School.

Mother's life was one of hard work raising her two children, Tom (Shayla) Dunroe and Carol (David) Pond, and service to our Heavenly Father. She served in many callings and, after retiring from Grand Central, she served for a few years in the Salt Lake Temple and for over 16 years in the German extraction program of the L. D.S. Church.

Clara enjoyed gardening, scrap-booking, and crocheting countless afghans and baby shawls which she shared with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, taking her children on yearly vacations, and she recorded in detail her travels to Asia and Europe. Her family has valued her Personal History which she finished at age 88.

She is survived by her children, 7 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, also by two sisters, Norma Gardner and Dorothy (Dale) Rupp. She is preceded in death by siblings: Ethelyn Eatchel, Vera Bennett, John, William, Melvin, Harold, and Clarence.

We wish to express appreciation to our dear friends, the staff, of Legacy House of Bountiful for their loving care of our mother.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends and family can visit Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
