Cleve Sheldon Child

It is with love and sorrow to announce the passing of Cleve Sheldon Child on April 5, 2013, from natural causes. Cleve was born March 2, 1931, in Salt Lake City to Diana Hyda Fallentine Child and Paul Curtis Child. He was the seventh of seven children.

Cleve graduated from West High School and attended the University of Utah. At West High he enjoyed being captain of the football team "when they didn't have face guards" and playing tennis. At age 19 he joined the U.S. Navy, serving four years during the Korean War conflict on the U.S.S. Pine Island, obtaining rank of Petty Officer Second Class. After the war, he met his wife and sweetheart of 56 years, Coralie Giese Child, and they began a family with two sons. He retired from Siemens after a successful career in electrical-systems sales and design.
