Clyde Nathaniel Noffsinger, passed away on December, 29, 2010 in Salt Lake City. Born June 13, 1928 to Verdie and Daniel M. Noffsinger in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a graduate of Granite High School. Clyde was a veteran of two wars, serving his country in WWII and the Korean War in the Merchant Marines. He married Betty Jean Boivin on January 1, 1949 in Elko, Nevada. They had five children. Clyde was a welder at Chicago Bridge and Iron for over thirty years until he retired.
Clyde loved food. His most favorite thing to cook was homemade soup and pies. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Clyde was asked by Bela Lugosi to perform with him on stage and was told by Mr. Lugosi that Clyde and his friends were the funniest people he had ever met.
He is survived by his five children: Don(Sherle), Claudia, Clyde P., Betty (Ken) and David (Michelle) and "adopted" daughter Kristine Durrant; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, soon to be ten; brother, Daniel and three sisters, Marva, Nancy and Pat. Preceded in death by his wife, Betty; brothers Jack and David and sisters, Norma, Donna and Betty.
Friends and family may visit on Monday, January 3, 2011 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East. A memorial service will be held following the viewing on Monday evening at 7:00 pm at the mortuary. Messages and tributes to the family can be posted at: www.holbrookmortuary.com
The family would like to thank his good friend Ellen, the many caregivers; Dr. Kate Wilson, Mary Ellen, Millcreek Home Health, Life Care at Home, the 5th floor trauma unit at IMC, especially the nurses, Keith, Rachel and Beth and all those at Spring Creek that made his final days easier.
