Collin J. Sprague

March 22, 1965 — March 24, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Collin Johnathon Sprague, aged 61, in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his beloved wife of 21 years, Rose, by his side.

Collin was born on March 22nd, 1965, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Vaniece and Morley Sprague, as the youngest of four siblings. He was proudly raised both on and in the water, with his first boat ride at just six weeks old, and a deep love for swimming. Collin was born with a keen interest in the outdoors, becoming an eagle scout, hunter, fisherman, explorer, and a superior marksman. He was also quite the athlete, competing in swim and track throughout high school, beating records and collecting medals along the way.

Collin was a hard worker who loved to learn—both traits he received from his father. He graduated ITT Technical College with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

He was passionate about his career manufacturing products for the medical field, almost as if it were his calling. As he excelled in his career, he built immense life-long relationships along the way. One of which, was his loving wife Rose, who was a technician that worked alongside him at Zevex. Their love grew quickly after discovering their common passion for camping and fishing. From then on, they were inseparable; many could agree she truly found a god amongst men. The couple married on August 2nd, 2004, at their home in West Valley City, Utah, and shortly thereafter adopted their three children: Elexxys, Nathan, and Aiden. Additionally, Collin embraced Thomas, Willie, Natasha, Sophia, Isaiah, and Tiedra as his own.

Whether it was cooking, studying trains, camping, boating, four-wheeling, shooting, or fishing, Collin loved spending time with his children, extensive friends, and close family. He passed those passions down to his children and grandchildren, who carry many warm memories and his ability to accept people wherever they were in life, loving them unconditionally.

He is survived by his beloved wife Rose; his sister Ruthann (Henry); his children Thomas, Willie (Angela), Elexxys, Nathan, and Aiden; his grandchildren Isaiah, Gino, Jeremih, Jesse, Ruben, Julia; his great-grandchildren Aaliyah, Ace, and Mateo. He will be missed by his pets Singe, Zepp, Steven, Cheetah, Cherry, Snow White and Moo.

He is preceded in death by his parents Vaniece and Morley; his brothers Damon and Reed; and his stepdaughter Natasha.

We would like to extend a special thanks for the tender care he received from the staff at Common Spirit St. Francis Hospital. As Collin’s family, we are devastated by this sudden loss of our patriarch. Collin was a man with a strong moral code, great stories, and a heart of gold. His influence will be remembered by his extensive family, friends, and everyone he encountered.

As his dear friend Phil McScotts had recently wisely observed to Collin: “It seems life throws some unfair turns at people who are truly some of God’s finest work.” May your soul rest in peace and your memory be cherished.

With love, Isaiah.
