Connie Gibson Christofferson

June 25, 1938 — February 3, 2014

Connie Gibson Christofferson, 75, of Holladay, Utah, passed away on February 3, 2014, surrounded by family and friends. Born on June 25, 1938, Connie graduated from Logan High School in 1956. She graduated from Utah State with a B.A. in Education. She was an active member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She taught 2nd grade at Upland Terrace for one year and Cottonwood Elementary for seven years. She then stayed at home raising her children until the early 90's when she started working for The GAP. She worked at both the Cottonwood Mall and Fashion Place Mall GAP for over 15 years. She was considered the longest standing employee in this area. Some of Connie's other pursuits included knitting, sewing, walking, exercising, and reading. She was happiest when sitting in the sun reading with Kent by her side. Connie married Kent Christofferson on August 4, 1961, in the Logan Temple. Fifty-one years of devoted marriage followed. She and Kent served together as missionaries to juvenile corrections in Utah. They brought great love and understanding to these youths. Connie was a very knowledgeable teacher. Her desire to help those in need superseded her own needs. She would often push her physical and spiritual limits to the breaking point in order to help others. Neither sleet nor snow nor commonsense would stop Connie Christofferson.

Connie is survived by her mother Kathryn Palmer Gibson; sons, Chet (wife Tonirae) and Curtis; and grandchildren, Kaylee Christofferson and A.J. Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Kent Christofferson; father, Elmer Gibson; and brother, James Gibson.

We would like to thank the boy's godparents Matt and Sally Lewis, Thomas Jones and family, Fred Wunderli and family, David Gillette and family, Fred and Linda Babcock, Judy and Delyle Condie, MaryJune & Paul Woods, and especially our family the Bennetts and Gibsons and Susie and Steven Sorenson for their guidance, love and support throughout the years. We would also like to give a special Thank You to all of the members of the Holladay 21st and 25th Wards.
