After a long battle with cancer, Connie Rae Curtis Qureshi passed away peacefully on December 8, 2023, at home surrounded by loved ones in Sandy, Utah. She was 64 years old. Connie’s private services were held at Memorial Holladay Cemetery on December 14, 2023.
Connie was born to Carlyle Vail Curtis and Zona Fay Sagers on July 22, 1959, in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Being the youngest daughter and sister of four girls, Connie was a quiet child who was inquisitive. In West High School, she loved competing in track and field. Connie was a very independent woman who strived diligently to provide her two children, Shantelle Pratt and Brandon Qureshi, the best lives she could.
She was a very hard worker who always put others first. To serve is to love, and Connie took this to heart. Many people from different backgrounds and situations sought solace and guidance from Connie. She touched many hearts while she was alive. Family meant everything to Connie, both blood and bond. She took many people and animals in to lift them up and shield them from their personal storms. When her son Brandon developed a brain tumor at the age of six that left him physically and mentally disabled, Connie made it her life mission to care for him.
Connie was content not being in the limelight. She quietly worked behind the scenes, making sure the people who sought her help were taken care of, yet never required recognition or payment. She truly embodied Jesus Christ’s commandment to love your neighbor. Her love and service will not be forgotten.
Studying Egyptology, collecting unicorns, and coloring were delightful hobbies Connie enjoyed. She would talk for hours about history, both worldly and personally, enlightening those who would gather around. Connie adored her three grandchildren and spent as much time as she could with them.
Connie is survived by her three sisters, Vickie (Lee) Hansen, Cathy (Mark) McCabe, Judy Curtis, her three children, daughter Trudy (adopted), daughter Shantelle (Seth) Pratt, and son Brandon Qureshi, along with her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her dad, mom, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and nephew Kelly Engles.
At her request, Connie has asked in lieu of flowers, to please donate to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City or Shriner’s Hospital.
