Cynthia Howell Thalman

January 16, 1955 — April 18, 2026

Cynthia Howell Thalman (age 71) passed away with loved ones by her side on Saturday, April 18th, 2026.

Cynthia was born to Kenneth and Yvonne Howell on January 16th, 1955, in Mount Pleasant, Utah. She grew up in Manti, Utah, along with two brothers and four sisters (Greg, Deborah, Kerri, Kathy, Lorraine, and Blake).

Throughout her childhood, Cynthia enjoyed going on vacations with her family. She loved summer activities such as swimming and riding bikes around town with her sisters and friends. Cynthia had a love for music. In high school, she played the flute, sang in the choir, and was a talented cheerleader. Cynthia attended college at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. She earned her bachelor's degree in education, which led to a career teaching elementary school.

While attending college, Cynthia met her dear husband, Matt Thalman. They were married on April 8th, 1977. After college, Cynthia and Matt settled down to raise their family in West Jordan, Utah. They had 4 children, Brian Thalman (Husband to Melissa, Father to Daughter Ava, and Sons Mack, Elijah, and Asher), Jennifer Thalman Cordner (Wife to Daniel Cordner), David Thalman, and JaNae Thalman. Cynthia was married to Matt for 44 years before Matt passed away in 2021. We take comfort in knowing they have been reunited and are together once more.

Throughout her life, Cynthia enjoyed many artistic hobbies, including singing, painting, and creative writing. She, along with her husband Matt, carried out many acts of service and fulfilled many church callings.

Her greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished the time she spent with her husband, children, and her grandchildren, Ava, Mack, Elijah, and Asher, whom she loved so dearly.

Cynthia is survived by her children: Brian Thalman, Jennifer Cordner, David Thalman, JaNae Thalman, and her grandchildren: Ava, Mack, Elijah, and Asher

She is preceded in death by her husband Matt Thalman, Father Kenneth Howell, Mother Yvonne Howell, Brother Greg Howell (Husband to Andrea), and Brother-in-Law Michael Mangum (Husband to Deborah Mangum)
