Cyril (Cy) Joseph Talabock passed away August 22, 2014 at the age of 79 in South Jordon, UT. He was born on June 5, 1935 in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, to Felix and Lydia Talabock. He had three younger brothers, Thomas, Felix Jr., and Donnie.
Cy was an award winning athlete in high school. He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, football, and running track. As an adult, he enjoyed watching sports and playing golf. He loved the outdoors and was a hunting, fishing and camping enthusiast throughout his life.
Cy graduated from high school in 1953, and married Cherry Gill in 1955. He served in the army during the Korean War and spent time working for the CIA. He and Cherry had three beautiful daughters who were a joy in their lives. Sadly, irreconcilable challenges beset their family and their marriage ended. After the heartache of lost dreams for his family, Cy met Donna Cochran Pope, a wonderful woman who had faced the disappointing heartache and challenges of her own family break up. However, Donna would prove to be a lifelong love and light on Cy's life's journey, and in 1973 they were married.
He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1976, and was later sealed for time and all eternity to his dear companion, Donna, in the Salt Lake Temple. Cy and Donna and their children faced many of life's challenges together, and with faith and hope in the Savior and a sure testimony of the value of love, forgiveness, and the importance of family they have endured. Cy and Donna have enjoyed family events, traveling together, and sharing their belief in the Savior with their children, their grandchildren and friends.
During the 38 years of his church membership, Cy was actively involved in church activities, and served in many capacities, including Bishop. He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ, and tried to share it with everyone he met. He also loved people, and had a great sense of their worth. He was known for his faith, his frankness, and his generosity. He loved his family and his grandchildren.
