D. Gary Anderson

D. Gary Anderson passed away peacefully on January 6, 2023, in his home in Murray, Utah. He was born on June 9, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Darrell Eskil Anderson and Doris Long Anderson. He served his country as a member of The United States Coast Guard and was honorably discharged in 1962.
He married his sweetheart, Brenda Kay Anderson on November 13, 1965. Their
marriage blossomed for over 57 years, and together they raised their three children; Troy, Shawn, and Elana.
Gary studied Architecture at the University of Utah Received his Associate Degree in Applied Science in 1970. Gary was a Handyman Extraordinaire; no project was too challenging or too complex. Gary was an engineer by profession and could make a simple project slightly more complicated.
Gary Architecturally designed and planned his family’s first home. Gary and Kay were partners in designing and creating a beautiful Koi Pond and Asian themed garden paradise in their own backyard. He was on the board of The Utah Water Club for many years. Gary could be found in the backyard feeding the fish or tinkering on the pond.
Gary loved the beach, Southern California, and Balboa Island. He also was a Disney fanatic, which all who knew him would recognize him for his Mickey Mouse Collection. Gary loved the holidays, but Halloween and Christmas Morning were always a production.
Some of Gary’s other accomplishments are his passion and love of technology, which he passed along to his children and grandchildren. Most of all, Gary loved his family, especially his dear wife, Kay, for her thoughtful care.
Gary is survived by his sons Troy, Shawn, and daughter Elana, and grandchildren Gavin, Michael, and Nicholas, his brother Bob, his sister Marlene, and their families.
Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Memorial Murray Mortuary 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah 84121.
