Dale Fielding Fenton, 87, peacefully passed away on Monday March 29, 2010, after a valiant three year trial of surgeries and illness. Dale was born at home in Salt Lake City on October 30, 1922. He was the middle child of three, born to Joseph Jensen Fenton and Florence Leone Ingham Fenton. Dale graduated from South High School and joined the Navy. He married his sweetheart and the love of his life, Helen Glade on March 10, 1944 in the Salt Lake Temple. He shipped out to sea during World War II to serve as a radio operator on a PT boat. He was the Father of six children.
Dale worked as an accountant at Purity Biscuit and then at A & R Meats. His ability to work with numbers benefited friends and associates each year as he computed income taxes. Dale was a person of integrity, always honest, hardworking and responsible. He encouraged education, reading, and good citizenship. He enjoyed his grandchildren, long walks, and being a crossing guard. He was an artist, and even used his yard as a canvas in creating beautiful space for family and neighbors' enjoyment.
Dale was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He held many callings in the church and especially enjoyed serving as the Kenwood Stake Clerk for over 20 years, and grew to love the men with whom he associated.
Dale is survived by his angel wife of 66 years, a sister, Lois Jane (Dick) Wetherell, five children: Dale (Linda) Fenton, Ann (Dave) Embley, Kirk (Elaine) Fenton, Alan, Sally (Kurt) Baker, a daughter-in-law Sylvia Fenton, 28 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Fenton, a son, Blair, and two grandchildren Michael Fenton and Baby Girl Fenton.
Funeral services will be Monday April 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kenwood 1st Ward, 1765 East Gregson Ave (3080 S), where friends and family can visit from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Online messages and tributes can be sent to Dale's family at: www.holbrookmortuary.com
