Dale Henry Wagstaff

Dale Henry Wagstaff, age 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on August 3, 2026, in Farmington, Utah.

Born on June 9, 1942, in Ogden, Utah, to William Henry Wagstaff and Lavon Elaine Miller, Dale grew up working the soil on the family farm in Perry. Under his father’s mentorship, he learned the art, timing, and dedication required to nurture a successful fruit crop—instilling in him a lifelong work ethic and a lingering appreciation for perfectly ripened fruit.

As a young man, Dale also discovered a lifelong passion for Scouting. He earned his Eagle Scout rank at just 15 years old, beginning a lifelong journey of service, outdoor adventure, and mentorship. Over the years, he served faithfully as a Scoutmaster and was honored with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award in 1984. Through Scouting, Dale developed a deep love for the outdoors, camping, and hunting and mountainman lore that stayed with him throughout his life.

Though he excelled on the farm, Dale’s curiosity was captured early on by all things electronic. Following his full-time service as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Alberta, Canada, he met the love of his life, Margo Christensen. They were married on May 17, 1971. Margo brought two wonderful children, Curtis and Jan, into Dale’s heart and home, and he embraced instant family life with open arms. Together, Dale and Margo grew their family, welcoming Michael, Emily, Brian, Elaine, and Joy.

Seeking new opportunities, Dale made a bold career transition, moving his family closer to Salt Lake City to join the Temple Audio-Visual Department for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This career was a dream match for his talents. Dale traveled the world finalizing equipment installations for newly constructed temples, with a special fondness for tropical destinations. His travels inspired a passion for SCUBA diving; ever the lifelong learner, Dale advanced to become a Master Instructor, delighting in guiding students on diving trips beneath the surface.

In his personal time, Dale was a true craftsman and enthusiast. Whether he was tinkering with classic Corvettes, enjoying a day on the lake with a boat full of kids, operating his HAM radio, or tackling weekend home improvement projects, Dale possessed a rare gift for taking an interest and quietly mastering it.

Above all, Dale was dedicated to his faith and his family. Household life was a joyful, energetic mix of early morning scripture study, weekend camping, and family adventures. In their later years, Dale and Margo served multiple LDS missions together, training facilities managers for temples—a beautiful capstone to a life defined by devotion and service.
