Our beloved Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend, Dallas Kee, departed us on June 8th, 2025, on Utah Pride Day and his Father’s Birthday. Dallas was born October 6, 1982, in St. Marks Hospital, SLC, Utah.
Dallas is survived by his Father Emmett Kee, Step-Mom Elma, Sister Geri, and 2 nieces, 2 nephews and three Grandchildren and many of his colorful friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Linda Nelson (Steed) and was able to reunite with his mother Linda once again.
Dallas had been fighting cancer for a few years until further health issues occurred. As challenging as it was, Dallas still managed to work, make time for friends, care for his dog Poe, made time to paint, learn and try new recipes, and communicated regularly with his father Emmett who lived 500 miles away.
Special thanks to his friends who took care of him and Poe in the last few months of his life. Robin and Carl, Dominique, Justus, Sara, Adam. Each took turns driving him to work and to his doctor’s appointments and providing a safe space for Dallas to confide in. Justus was the friend to pick him up every night. He LOVED hanging out with his colorful friends, family, especially his dog Poe who was his pride and joy.
Dallas was Navajo; he is born for (maternal clan) Bilagáana (White) and born to (paternal clan) Honágháahnii (One who walks around) and Bilagáana is his maternal grandfather’s clan and Tábąąhí (Water’s Edge) is his paternal grandfather’s clan. He wore his two turquoise rings and bolo tie proudly. His father Emmett called him Dally—his own nickname for Dallas. And Dally called him Pops!
Dallas had many careers working in the retail, fashion and clothing industry including the bar world. Starting at the age of 16, he got his first job in the Old Navy store. He worked many nights and days at different retail stores. He was so proud of a recent accomplishment--a Promotion as the Store Manager at South Towne H&M. He felt like he had finally made it. His chic sense of fashion paired with his fine perception for delicious food, wine, drinks, and stories made him the remarkable human being he was.
Dallas loved his mom, Linda, dearly. She raised him the best way she could and taught him kindness and the art of cooking. In her last days, Dallas cared for his mom. He missed her much after her passing as they were very close.
Dallas was always into the Arts. He learned painting at day care; he was a natural & gifted artist. He loved to paint, read literature, and shared his joy for cooking and food with his family and friends often. As a teen, he sold his artwork and participated in plays and musicals. The Farmers Market Pioneer Park and Downtown Alliance was one of his favorites as a child as he helped Aunt Elma and Dad Emmett sell Navajo Taco’s every Saturday and Thursday. More recently, he was learning French and had wanted to visit France. We all know he would have loved the country of France, and he would have thrived in the elevated lifestyle and high fashion environment France and Europe would have offered.
Family, friends and others whose lives Dallas touched are invited to A Celebration of Life on Friday, June 13; the viewing is at 5PM and Reception at 6PM with an Open Bar (B.Y.O.B.) to reminisce, grieve, support each other, and share stories. We ask Friends and Family to bring a favorite Food Dish or favorite wine for the reception and flowers as Dallas loved the beauty of florals.
The Kee and Steed Family are grateful for your support and love. Thank you ~ Ahe’hee
