Danette Lamoreaux Ernstsen

November 25, 1958 — December 30, 2023

Danette Lamoreaux Ernstsen, age 65, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully the morning of December 30th, 2023 after a sudden decline in her health living with young-onset Alzheimer's disease. She was born November 25th, 1958 in Pocatello, Idaho to Bonnie Lee Skinner and Thomas Ramon Lamoreaux. She was the fourth of six children. Her family moved to Murray, Utah when Danette was a toddler.

Danette was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when she was 17 years old. She was baptized by Mark England whom she later married. To this union was born Erin Leigh, her oldest daughter. Danette and Mark divorced a few years later. Danette married Brad Paul Ernstsen in 1981. They divorced in 1997. To this union were born Zachary Samuel, Derick Jacob, Brandon Thomas, Emily Elizabeth, and Stuart Donald

Danette loved music. She enjoyed listening to country, Elvis and a variety of tunes that spanned decades. Her love of music budded while growing up listening to her father play in jazz bands.

She sang in high school and church choirs, sharing her beautiful alto voice. She collected beanie babies for several years and had shelves full of them in her home to her grandchildren's delight. She raised four Scottish Terriers over many years and found great comfort in their company. Attending church and the temple with her sister Robyn brought her joy.

Danette was hard working. She held jobs even while raising her babies. She worked at Winchell's Donuts, Industrial Supply, Staker Paving, and Summerhays Music. She dedicated 15 years to Granite School District in human resources and retired from Utah Media Group in December 2020.

Danette loved her children and grandchildren. They were her life. She worked very hard to provide for them and support them. She spent years at dance recitals, baseball games, and the skating oval, showing support for her kids and grandkids. Danette put in the tremendous effort to be healthy and overcome vices so she could have many more years with her family.

Danette was kind and generous. She took time to serve others. We will miss her hugs and smiles, her love and compassion.

Danette is survived by her children: Erin (Tyler), Zachary, Derick, Brandon (Amber), Emily (Steven), and Stuart. Her siblings: Mike (Linda- deceased), Larry (Holly), Robyn (Cody), and Scott (Mechelle). Her grandchildren: Morgan, Cade, Olivia, Lila, and Austin. As well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother Terry and her parents Bonnie and Thomas.
