Darrell Ernest Herzog

Darrell Ernest Herzog, 93, died April 13th 2013 of causes incident to age. He was born July 2, 1919 in Salt Lake City Utah to Joseph Ralph and Pearl Millgate Herzog. He served in the Army Aircorp during World War II on Tinian Island. He married Goldie Joyce Egan on July 25, 1944. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He was an active member of the LDS church and served in many callings. He owned and operated Herzog Bro. Texaco, in Sugarhouse, with his brother Ralph, for 48 years. He loved to play softball, sponsoring Herzog Bros. softball team for many years. He loved fishing, his horse (Chino) and the Wind River trips. After losing his wife, Joyce, he married Darlene B. Wyner on May 6th 1989. They served a mission in Nairobi Kenya.

He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce, parents and sisters Helen Green and Marilyn Brown and brother Ralph. He is survived by his wife Darlene and brother Bob Herzog, his six children: Sandra Russell, Tim and (Linda) Herzog, Julie and (Henry S.) Brock, Robert Herzog, Lori and (Mark) Smith, Jayne and (Brian) Barnett; 24 grandchildren and 23 great- grandchildren. We would like to thank Everett and Amber, Madi, and Bob for their loving care of Dad.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 21 at Holbrook Mortuary at 3251 So. 2300 E. from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 22 at the Canyon Rim 1st Ward Building, 3000 S. Grace (3100 E.) at 11am. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:30-10:30am. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Messages to the family can be posted at www.holbrookmortuary.com
