David Dahn

d. October 5, 2008

David Emory Dahn passed away at home of natural causes on October 5, 2008. David was born on October 18, 1924 to Henry and Edna Leah Bates Dahn in Salt Lake City, Utah. David was the third of five active boys who kept Edna on her toes. David graduated from East High School and attended the University of Utah after his honorable service in the Armed Forces. He married Marjean Erickson on December 23, 1947. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. At age 18, David willingly joined the army and served on the front lines as part of an infantry unit stationed in Germany. David's hearing would be severely impaired because of this service. He had a strong love of his country and considered his time in World War II to be a defining experience in his life. After the war, he began a life-long and rewarding career as a fire protection engineer. The highlight was when he was commissioned by President David O. Mckay to install fire protection sprinklers in the Salt Lake Temple. David was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many callings, but among his favorites were serving with the youth of the church. David was always very generous with his time, talents, and possessions, and many people were the recipients of his kindness. David is survived by his wife of 60 years, and 4 daughters, Kathy (Tod) Johnson, Cynthia (Mark) Isom, Marianne (Mike) Clarke, and Julie (Mike) Duffy, 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 brother Richard W. Dahn. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Henry, and Roy, and a grandson David Dahn Isom. Thanks Dad for all the endless love and support, for being at every event and activity in our lives, and for loving us unconditionally. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 8th at the Millcreek 2nd Ward, 4220 South Jeannine Drive (420 East), at 12:00 (noon). Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday evening October 7th from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and also on Wednesday at the church from 10:40-11:40AM prior to the services. In lieu of flowers the family suggests you make donations to the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
