DAVID B. KENNEY
6/10/39 to 9/12/08
David B. Kenney, a good man who loved his Heavenly Father and his family, left this earth on Friday, September 12, 2008 after a tragic accident. He was injured while participating in one of his favorite, yet exasperating activities, restoring his historic home in Manti, Utah. David was born to Richard & Josephine Kenney on June 10, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1957 and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to New Zealand from 1959-1961. On September 15, 1965 he married his sweetheart, Barbara D. Parkin, in the Salt Lake Temple where they were sealed for time and eternity. After attending the University of Utah, David went on to graduate with honors from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1975. David then returned to Utah and opened his medical practice; he has earned the utmost respect from colleagues and patients ever since. In addition to practicing medicine, David has been a part of numerous entrepreneurial endeavors, most notably the invention and use of photo radar. David and Barbara recently spent three years serving a LDS mission to the Utah State Prison, where they touched many lives. David faithfully and honorably served in all positions to which he was called within the church; he preferred being called Brother Kenney rather than Dr. Kenney anytime. He was always friend first, business second. David is survived by his wife, Barbara "Bubbs" Kenney, Cottonwood Heights, his children Sonnett (Skip) Hendrickson, West Valley; Judd (Kristine) Kenney, Murray; Amy (Clayton) Morgan, Alpine; Brian (Kristi) Kenney, West Valley and Linden (Brian) Snarr of Summerville, South Carolina. David was preceded in death by both parents and survived by four brothers and four sisters. While David was always a loving father, he found utter joy and happiness in his 18 grandchildren, who refer to him by many names aside from Grandpa, including Grandpa Grover Chicken, Duct Tape Dave and a variety of other names that reflect his constantly playful personality. His early departure has left his family and friends with deep sadness; however, we take comfort in our many memories along with the knowledge that we will be reunited after this life. A private family service in celebration of David's life will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2008. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.holbrookmortuary.com.
