David Lewis Wallace

May 29, 1943 — June 17, 2025

It was an unusual cold day on Saturday May 29, 1943 in Denver, Colorado when Elizabeth Linthicum Benson and Robert Earl Wallace welcomed their third blessing from Heaven David Lewis Wallace into their family.

He was the baby of the family; he had two older siblings, a sister named Norma Jean, she was the oldest and an older brother named James Robert.

David lived in Denver until his toddler years when he and his family moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming.

He grew up being a kind, likable good boy who played the trombone and loved to play outside with his friends. In his teenage years he met Sandy and he said he thought she was beautiful and he fell in love with her at first sight. They eloped and married at the tender age of 16 for her and 17 for him in Greeley, Colorado on October 21, 1960.

David was baptized on December 22, 1960 making him a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints .

They were sealed as a family with their two daughters in the Salt Lake Temple on February 11, 1966

David with his wife Sandy would be blessed with two additional children; a boy and another daughter.

He loved his family and built many wonderful memories with them from daddy daughter dates, he loved being outdoors in nature camping. He loved running and building things from decks, fences and even a house. He was very handy and willing to help whenever he could. He was always there when his kids needed him and this carried over with his grandchildren too.

He loved games like crosswords, scrabble and playing chess and he wanted to learn how to play pickleball.

in later years he developed a love for watching crime dramas.

He was a hard worker and a wonderful provider for his family. He worked at the phone company for 46 years. Starting from the bottom and working his way up to later becoming a manager as a design service engineer.

He loved learning and attended and graduated from the University of Utah with 2 bachelor of science degrees in psychology and sociology and certifying in criminology.

After retiring in the early 2,000’s he put his degrees to work and assisted the court system in reviewing various cases.

He wasn’t someone who could ever just sit around; it wasn’t surprising to his family when his retirement was short lived and he started a second career as a substitute teacher in the day; he especially loved working with middle school students and the students loved him! At night he worked as a security guard.

He had a great sense of humor, quick wit, easy going nature and was loved by anyone who knew him.

To his grandchildren he was cool, often times cooler than their parents.

He loved his grandchildren and his great grandchildren too.

He was preceded in returning home to Heaven by his parents, his sister and brother, his granddaughter Sarah, his daughter Sheri, his wife Sandy and his two canine sons; Murfy and Dexter.

He is survived by his oldest daughter Brooklyn, his only son David Lewis Wallace Jr aka Bill and his youngest child and daughter Darcy and 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and neighbor. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him and love him.
