David H. Madsen, a beloved father, educator, and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, passed away, leaving a profound legacy in both academic and religious spheres.
Born in Duvall, Florida, David's life was defined by an unyielding passion for learning and a deep love for the humanities. His extensive knowledge and appreciation enriched many lives during his many years as a humanities professor at Brigham Young University. David dedicated his entire career to the Church Educational System of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving with distinction as an educator and author, guiding and inspiring generations. He played a pivotal role in curriculum development for the Church Educational System. A true polyglot, his linguistic gifts were instrumental in crafting educational materials that not only taught gospel principles but also disseminated English language skills globally.
He loved his grandchildren, attending rodeos, football, concerts, making art with them and encouraging them to develop their passion for life and love of family.
David's life was a testament to the power of education, the beauty of the arts, and unwavering faith. He will be remembered for his intellectual curiosity, dedication to teaching, and profound impact on those he taught and served. His absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, former students, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife Marlyn, his sister and brothers, his children, and grandchildren.
A viewing will be held for family and friends on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:45 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan.
