David Max Tyler

January 14, 1921 — June 26, 2012

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, David Max Tyler age 91, returned quietly to his Father in Heaven on June 26, 2012, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Max was born on January 14, 1921 in Ucon, Idaho to John Pulsipher Tyler and Welthy Myrtle Dodge. He received an Associate's degree in accounting from LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. He was called to serve an LDS Mission to the Northwestern States in November of 1941. War was declared while serving and when he returned home he was immediately drafted into the Army Air Corp. In December of 1943 he married Barbara Doris Nielsen and they had four children. In 1961, Barbara, passed away after a lingering illness. In November of 1962 he married Maurine Valora Wood Ingersoll and became an instant father of four more beautiful children. He was an avid outdoorsman and along with his best friend and brother-in-law, John MacDuff, spent many years as a member of the Wasatch Mountain Club. He worked in accounting for Mountain Fuel Supply Company (Questar) for thirty-five years before retiring in 1983. After retiring Max and Maurine traveled extensively and began spending several months each winter in San Diego. At home in SLC, they served in the temple. In 1984 they served a mission together to Northern California. In 2005 Maurine passed away. He has faithfully attended the temple each week performing countless ordinances for those who have passed on before. He was a living example of gentle kindness, integrity, and service. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children, Kathleen (Dan) McGraw, David Tyler, Laurel Tyler, Michael (Julie) Tyler, Mark (Shelly) Ingersoll, and Craig Ingersoll. He was preceded in death by children, Gary Ingersoll and Janine Ingersoll and one granddaughter. He has twenty-eight grandchildren, sixty-two great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday, July 2, 2012 at 11:00 am. at the Valley View Chapel at 2245 East 3900 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and Family may call Sunday evening, July 1, 2012 at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah from 6:00 to 8:00pm or at the church Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30am prior to the service.
