DeAnna Ivy East Bailey

January 24, 1966 — November 21, 2024

Fairview

On the most beautiful day of November 21, 2024 at her home in Fairview, Utah our loving daughter, sister, Momma and grandma DeAnna, reached for the hand of Jesus, who quickly took her to the gates of Heaven, where her son Max greeted her with the biggest hug.

DeAnna suffered many years with a painful illness that debilitated her legs and though her passing was unexpected, we know she is now free from all pain.

DeAnna was born on January 24, 1966, the third child to Lynn D. East and Bonnie Ann Baker. she spent her early childhood in Riverton, Utah and at her grandparents home on 5th East in Murray, Utah.

She attended Ozark high school in Ozark, Missouri where she excelled in every sport that she played. She placed second in state her senior year in 1984 and held the women's discus record up until 1992.

DeAnna married James VanDetta and together they had their daughter Jamie Dee on September 17, 1986 and their son Max Logan on October 10, 1988. They later divorced.

Jamie and Max were the love and joy of DeAnna's life. Her fondest times were fishing with them, watching them race motorcycles and play sports. She often sang, "You are my sunshine" to them and had a regular saying, "I love you from the sun to the moon, around each shining star and back again." She adored her three grandchildren Deken, Maddie, and little Max. She was always up for a challenge of Guitar Hero with them.

She loved the color green, all things elephants and never bought a greeting card, as hers were all handmade. She loved to make all things beautiful with her talented artwork. She never held a grudge, she always forgave, always said her prayers and loved her family dearly.

She spent the last 10 years with the love of her life, Andy Hansen, who so lovingly cared for her this last year. She never liked to be without her two dogs, Cujo and Peanut. They were loyal companions through her joy and illness.

The last three years her and Andy lived in Fairview, Utah with her Momma, who was her lifeline to this world. She always said she couldn't live without her. Momma loved and cared for DeAnna so well this last year and they were best friends.

One of the last entries DeAnna wrote in her journal was, "I love all my family, them and Andy too. Love Me."

She was a believer in Jesus, who helped her walk this earth. She adored her daughter Jamie. She loved keeping all the flowers at the house pretty and gathering their seeds for Momma to plant in the spring.

She will forever live in our hearts and in every blooming flower.

She is survived by her daughter Jamie Dee VanDetta-Archuletta (John Archuletta), three grandchildren Deken J. VanDetta, Maddison D. Peters, Max J. Archuletta, The love of her life, Andy Hansen, Her Momma Bonnie Ann Baker East, her two brothers Steve L. East (Erica), and Willard L. East (Sheron), Sister Amy Heath and her "Big little" sister Bonnie Lee East Nordell (Cody)

She is preceded in death by her son Max Logan VanDetta (07/12/2009), her husband Roger Bailey, her Daddy Lynn Dee East (10/04/1982), her grandparents Willard and Beverly Baker, a nephew Willard G. East and her stepdad Richard N. Oswald
