Debra Jean Watkins Christy

Debra Jean Watkins Christy, 58, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on July 10, 2025. Born on June 21, 1967, in Farmville, Virginia, Debra brought warmth into every space she entered—a true beacon of love, strength, and grace.

Debra was the kind of woman who made everyone feel like they belonged. She had a gift for seeing people deeply, making them feel heard, loved, and understood. Her shoulder was always there to cry on, and her hands were always ready to help. With an endless well of compassion, she uplifted those around her, never failing to offer encouragement or a kind word.

Debra was a deeply curious soul—forever eager to learn, explore, and grow. She approached life with wonder and determination, never afraid to try something new. Whether it was mastering a recipe, diving into a new business venture, or picking up a creative skill just because it inspired her, Debra believed that if she wanted something, she could get it—and she usually did. Her adventurous spirit extended to her love of travel; she found joy in discovering new places, cultures, and experiences, always returning home with stories and inspiration. She had a quick wit and a joyful sense of humor that could turn even the hardest day into laughter.

She was a woman of many talents—an incredible cook, a beautiful singer, a businesswoman, and a master of creating beauty, especially within her home. Her eye for design turned every space into a sanctuary. But more than anything, Debra’s greatest legacy was how she made people feel, seen, safe, and special.

Debra came from a large and loving family of 15 siblings. She was a devoted wife to Edward Christy, with whom she built and ran two successful businesses. She was a proud and nurturing mother to her two sons, Devonte Major and Reggie Clark.

She is preceded in death by her father, John Jasper Watkins, and mother, Mary Magdeline Davis. She is survived by her husband, Edward Christy, her oldest son, Devonte Major, his wife, Akira, and her grandson, Josiah, along with her youngest son, Reggie Clark. She is also survived by nine loving brothers and five loving sisters, five stepchildren, a grandmother, and an auntie to many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of Debra’s life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, located at 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. The viewing will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by the funeral service from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at 3:30 PM. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and honor the life of a woman whose love and presence touched so many.

A beloved sister, mother, wife, grandmother, auntie, cousin, and friend to many, Debra will be deeply missed and forever loved. Her love, spirit, and light will live on through all of us. May she rest in the arms of the Lord.
