Dennis Roland Webb

Jan 29, 1949 — Jun 21, 2026

Holladay, Utah

Noble Son of God

Our magnificent husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Dennis Roland Webb, returned home to his Heavenly Parents on Father's Day, Sunday, June 21, surrounded by the love of his family.

Throughout his life, even up to the very end, Dennis was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. His love and appreciation for Joseph Smith and his unwavering testimony of the Book of Mormon anchored him firmly to the Savior.

Born with a fun and cheerful spirit, Dennis was raised by extraordinary parents, Roland and Bessie Webb, in Holladay, Utah. He loved his siblings and their childhood was marked with adventures in scouting, fishing, falconry, Lake Powell on Ma Bess, and walnut magic on Christmas mornings.

Christlike Service

The hallmark of Dennis' life was service - from public service and church ministry to quiet generosity and ministering to the one.

He loved his time as a student at the University of Utah, and found great joy serving in the Latter-day Saint Student Association. He gave weekly tours on Temple Square, during which time he met the love of his life, Martsie Davis.

He and Martsie served as mission leaders of the Virginia Richmond Mission. They cherished their ministry together and shared their hearts with the 489 missionaries who served with them. Their mission pioneered the Ammon Model, a unique approach to proselyting through Christlike service.

Throughout his life Dennis founded organizations dedicated to helping families and communities flourish - Southern Virginia University, MALFCOMS, Operation Kids, Holladay City Foundation, Mesoamerican Research Foundation, and the Lighthouse Foundation. His fingerprints can be found on institutions and causes that bless families around the world today.

Serving six years in the United States Army Reserve during the Vietnam era, Dennis developed a deep appreciation for his country and the Constitution. His years working on Capitol Hill in Washington DC and his involvement in local politics highlight his desire to strengthen communities he loved. During his ten years as Mayor of Holladay, he worked tirelessly to unite people, solve problems, and build a city where families could thrive.

Visionary Leadership

Dennis was blessed with the gift of leadership. His professional career reflected the same creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that characterized every aspect of his life. As a co-founder of Franklin Covey, Dennis helped build one of the most influential leadership development organizations in the world. Yet those who knew him best understood that what mattered most to him was helping people become better leaders, families, citizens, and disciples.

Over his career, Dennis enjoyed some success but also weathered failures in business. Through it all he maintained his reputation and integrity. On his office wall hangs the guiding principle, 'What's the right thing to do?' People trusted him because they knew his word was good. He overcame setbacks with optimism, accepted success with humility, and never lost sight of the values that mattered most.

Intentional Discipleship

Dennis embraced the gospel of Christ and sought to keep his covenants with conviction. As a young missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served under his beloved mission president Paul H. Dunn in the New England States Mission. There he developed lifelong friendships and an abiding testimony of the Savior and His restored Church. He also gained a steadfast testimony of Joseph Smith and often charged his family to remain faithful and to bear witness of the Prophet throughout their lives.

He served as bishop of single adult wards on multiple occasions, in Holladay and most recently in London, a calling he held until his passing. Living in London the last six years, and serving with Martise to build the kingdom there, was a source of great joy and the culmination of a life of servant leadership. He lived his life in crescendo, expanding his reach and impact while always seeking to minister to the one.

Bishop Webb loved his young single adults, counseling and mentoring the thousands of members of his wards. Many found in him not only a trusted leader, but a true friend who listened carefully, loved generously, and helped them discover the Lord's hand in their lives. He had a remarkable capacity to see the divine worth of individuals and help them recognize it in themselves.

Love of Family

Above all, the most important accomplishment of Dennis's life was his family. Married to Martsie for nearly 50 years, theirs was a magnificent marriage. They raised six children (each convinced they were the favorite) and filled their home with faith, laughter, kindness, and love. They welcomed a growing posterity of grandchildren whom they adore and continued the traditions that made time with family so rich and sweet.

No title, business success, or public recognition meant more to Dennis than being Husband, Dad, and Grandpa. From horseback rides at the ranch, fishing in Alaska with the Prevaricators, or foot cruisin' in new places, finding Hume was a way of life.

Dennis is survived by his sweetheart, Martsie; their twelve children - Jacob and Brooke, Philip and Micaela, Andrew and Krystal, Abigail and Scot Neff, John and Allison, James and Emily; and 20 beautiful grandchildren.

We are profoundly grateful for the life Dennis lived and the legacy he created. Though we will miss his optimism, his counsel, his laughter, and his love, we find comfort in what he taught us:
