Dixie Rae Shore, age 79, died on Thursday, September 7, 2023, in Lehi, Utah.
She was born on May 13, 1944. Dixie was the daughter of Maurice Jones and Dolores Marinda Hartvigsen of Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended Granite High School where she was involved in dance.
She worked at Harman’s Cafe while she attended cosmetology school to become a beautician.
While working there, she met and eventually married Steven R. Shore, of Salt Lake City, Utah. Dixie and Steve were blessed with five children, and lived in many places around the country and abroad while Steve was serving in the Army. Dixie loved to travel, especially with extended family to many gatherings and reunions. She loved to be in the outdoors camping or fishing and was often the first to catch a fish. She settled in West Valley City and Dixie began working at Blue Cross/Blue Shield, where she stayed for many years. Dixie was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings, including serving a full mission with Steve. One of her favorite callings was church librarian, which she served for over 17 years.
Dixie took care of her children, grandchildren, and the love of her life, Steve. She lived a life of hard work and service to family, friends, and neighbors. Her kindness and witty sense of humor will be sorely missed, but her loving example lives with those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Steve, her five children, Ren (Cambria) Shore, Russell (Karen) Shore, Marty (Lori) Shore, Shelly (Ben) Edwards, and Nick (Carri) Shore, sixteen loving grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and her brother Clair Toponce.Service Information
