Dolores Ann Dalton Morgan passed away peacefully from natural causes on June 1, 2026. She was born on January 7, 1938, to Ethel Norton Dalton and Morgan Leon “Whitie” Dalton in her grandparents’ small white log home in Junction, Utah. Her sister, Nan Nell, joined them nine years later.
Dolores was raised in Circleville, Utah. She graduated from Piute High School in 1956 where she was Salutatorian and enjoyed speech and drama. She performed in all of the high school plays, MIA Road Shows and competed in the state speech meet in Salt Lake City. During her senior year she was the school paper editor and was proud to be the co-author of the stake winning road show. Dolores played trumpet and French horn in the high school band, won the Betty Crocker Homemaker of the Year, and earned a year’s subscription with the Readers Digest Award.
In the Fall of 1956, she enrolled in the College of Southern Utah (now Southern Utah University) and was awarded a scholarship. After one year in Cedar City, she moved to Salt Lake City to attend LDS Business College. In the Spring of 1958, while living in Salt Lake City, she ran into George Morgan of Circleville, whom she had dated once before he left for the Navy. He was attending the University of Utah at the time. This was a chance meeting and a continuation of their on-again, off-again courtship over the next several years.
Dolores convinced George that they should get married, and on November 24, 1961, they did. The ceremony was held in the same home where George was born in Circleville. In December 1962 they moved to their first home in Granger, Utah. Five years later in 1967, George and Dolores adopted Melinda, and in 1970, Mitchell was also adopted into their family. In 1973 they moved to a new home in Cottonwood Heights where Russell was born in 1976. Their family was now complete. The Morgans moved in June 1986 to their dream home in Sandy, Utah where George and Dolores lived out the rest of their lives.
Dolores enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle, was active in the CPA Auxiliary and served as the PTA President for Butler Middle School. George and Dolores traveled extensively around the world; however, her favorite trips were to Hawaii with their grandchildren. Dolores loved jewelry. She was a very good writer, and she enjoyed composing her witty annual Christmas letter which friends and family always looked forward to receiving. She was a frequent contributor to the Salt Lake Tribune’s Public Forum. Dolores also loved to entertain. While living in Granger she started the Circleville Christmas Parties, and later organized the monthly “Piute Gang Lunch.” This group of friends met faithfully every month from 2000 to 2020. She also organized, planned and hosted many family reunions, birthday parties and special anniversary celebrations.
George and Dolores worked hard and lived within their means and invested in their future. They provided an education for any of their children desiring higher learning and contributed generously to college funds for their grandchildren. They also helped all their nieces and nephews with tuition. Dolores was very dependable in any church calling, service organization or volunteer opportunity and could always be counted on to get the job done. Dolores had to wait many years to become a grandmother. Her first granddaughter, Mia Rose, was born in 2004 and Dolores savored every minute of her remaining years with her four grandchildren - Mia Rose, George Steven, Eliza Dolores and Olive Rose. George and Dolores never missed a grandchild’s birthday, baptism or special event, even if it meant traveling to Las Vegas multiple times per year.
Dolores was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, George; her son, Mitchell; and sister, Nan Nell. She is survived by her children, Melinda (Jeff Snell) and Russell (Katie); and grandchildren, Mia Rose (Matthew Stutzman), George, Eliza, and Olive.
