Don Hancock

November 7, 1949 — July 15, 2025

Sandy

Don Alan Hancock, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, in Sandy, Utah, at the age of 75, surrounded by his wife, Kathie and his family.

Born November 7, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Don grew up in Holladay and spent most of his life in Sandy. He was a kind, thoughtful man with a patient heart, a quiet strength, and a deep, steady love for his family.

Don married Constance Beach on March 14, 1969, in the Salt Lake Temple. They built a family together with four children (although one of their children was only on this earth for a very short period). They divorced in 2000.

Don worked for most of his life alongside his father and siblings at the Utah Bookbinding Company. A family business founded by his dad, Glenn Hancock, in 1952 (later renamed Family Heritage Publishers). He also enjoyed working at Egghead Computer for a short period of time. His strong work ethic, loyalty, and dedication were evident in all he did.

In his younger years, Don played guitar in a band called The InMates, even recording a song—London Town—that played on the local radio in the late ’60s. He had a passion for music, especially The Beatles, and could still sing along to Yellow Submarine even when Parkinson’s disease made it difficult for him to speak in his final months.

Don loved the outdoors— when he was younger, he loved camping, fishing, jeeping, and boating.

Don married Kathie Bludworth on November 29, 2001. Don and Kathie enjoyed family vacations, road trips, art fairs, photography, finding new restaurants, street festivals and concerts. They had many great adventures together.

Don had an eye for beauty and creativity, loved taking photos, and even developed his own film for a time. He taught Kathie so much about photography and they loved taking pictures together. He was also known for being tech savvy and always ready with sound advice.

Don was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was sealed to his sweetheart, Kathie, in the Draper Temple on November 19, 2016. Theirs was a truly loving and caring relationship, and Kathie remained by his side through every challenge. She provided unwavering care and compassion, especially during his final year as Parkinson’s disease progressed.

He was a man who loved deeply and unconditionally. Don was well respected and respectful. He was supportive, thoughtful, and intentional with his words. He had a calming presence, a gentle wisdom, and a quiet humor that drew people close. He loved going out to eat—especially for Mexican food and sushi—and he never missed a chance to enjoy the small joys of life.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Janeal Hancock, and his son Jeremy Alan Hancock.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathie Hancock. He is also survived by his children: Jennifer Pierpont (Paul), John Christian Hancock (Jessica), and Jill Reeder (John); bonus children: West Bludworth, McCarrey Bludworth (Shannon); grandchildren: Meijken Hancock (Steve), Jeremy Reeder, Tristan LeBaron (Ammon), Sierra Pierpont (Spencer), Bradley Reeder-Aikau (Madeline), Madison Pierpont, Kennedy Bludworth, Elijah Bludworth, Ivy Bludworth, and Christian Bludworth. As well as 3 adorable great grandchildren- Anja Hancock, Roman Price and Evelyn LeBaron.

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday, July 26 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. The viewing and funeral will be held at the Fairoaks Meeting House of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints. Located at 586 East 8400 South, Sandy, Utah 84070.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Garret Carver for his dedicated care and support in Don’s final months.

Don’s gentle spirit, steady love, and quiet wisdom will remain with all who knew him. He was, and always will be, deeply cherished.
