Donald Wayne Ball

Woodland, Utah - Donald Wayne Ball passed away unexpectedly on November 9th, 2023.

Donald was born on July 31st, 1982 with his twin sister to proud parents David Lee Ball and Karen Jean Ball in Clearfield, Utah.

Growing up, Donald attended and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 2001. He then went on to attend the University of Utah after joining the United States Marine Corp.

Graduating with honors from the School of Infantry, Donald went on to serve in the Marine Corps from 2001-2005, which included two combat tours in Iraq. Donald reached the status of corporal in the 1st battalion, 5th Marines and received many honors including the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his leadership under sniper fire, the Certificate of Commendation for combat service in Fallujah, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (two stars), the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, as well as the Presidential Unit Citation Award.

A man of many interests and hobbies, Donald especially loved the outdoors and the tranquility it brought him, and could often be found out fishing and sharing his talents for outdoorsman ship with his family. He also enjoyed many sports, and was an avid animal lover religiously supporting the ASPCA.

Donald was always a huge supporter of any activities his nieces and nephews chose to be a part of, and is remembered fondly by them as well as their friends.

A bachelor through his life, Donald's true loves were Penny Lou, Persephone (SeffySue), Mable the table (The Face) and Darla (The Dog). Donald's biggest focus was his family. He was very vocal about how much he loved each and every one of them, and would make sure to keep in contact with every member. Nothing could come between Donald and his devotion to his family.

Later on in his life, Donald began to delve deeply into spirituality. He believed in a higher purpose, and strove to meet that purpose in his everyday life. Donald could often be found with crystals and special objects that were an important reminder to him of this spirituality.

Donald is survived by his siblings, Troy (Brenda) Ball of West Jordan, Utah, April Ball of West Valley, Utah, Abbie (Johnathan) Edmonds of Green River, Wyoming, and his twin sister, Amy Ball (Samantha) of Rock Springs, Wyoming. He is also survived by thirteen nieces, four nephews, and one grandniece.

He was predeceased by his parents, David and Karen, with whom he certainly is having a joyful reunion.

A Memorial service will be held in Donald’s honor at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 4219 South 2800 East, Woodland Utah 84036 on December 2nd, 2023 at 11am. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the ASPCA or your local animal shelter.
