Donald "Don" Oscar Laymon passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, quiet kindness, and cherished memories with the family and friends he loved so dearly.

Don was born on June 24, 1939, in Santa Monica, California. In 1980, he married Barbara Johnson Laymon, and together they lovingly blended their families. Don was the proud father of Ginger Ralin (Mike), Cindy Raymon, David Laymon, and Lon Laymon. He also embraced Barbara's four children, Keith, Randy, Cindy, and DeAnna.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara, and his sister, Sandra Howell. He is survived by his brother, Ronnie Laymon, as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

A proud veteran, Don served honorably in the United States Air Force for four years. During his military service, he discovered a natural talent and lifelong passion for woodworking and carpentry, skills that reflected his patience, precision, and craftsmanship.

After his service, Don devoted 36 years to the Union Pacific Railroad before retiring in 2001. He took great pride in his work and was respected for his strong work ethic and dedication.

Don enjoyed spending time on the golf course with his friends, bowling in a league, and trying his luck at the slot machines. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found his greatest contentment in the simple moments sitting on his porch with a warm cup of coffee, watching wildlife, and feeding the birds that faithfully visited each day.

Don will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his skilled craftsmanship, his love of the outdoors, and his appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Most of all, he will be remembered for the steady, quiet way he lived his life and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him.
