Donald Dale Hagemeyer was born near Pauline, Nebraska on April 13, 1926. He grew up on a farm with his brother and two sisters. Even after decades living in the city he never quite got farming out of his system. He served in the Army during the Korean War in both Japan and Korea and upon returning he met and married Clara Maxine Wyckoff, also from Nebraska. Later they decided to leave farming and try something new. He worked as a miner in Colorado and laborer in New Mexico. Ultimately they settled in Salt Lake City, where he got into the insurance business. He loved to fish, garden and was involved in square dancing for many years. In 1979 Maxine succumbed to cancer. In 1983 he met and married Elizabeth Lorraine Sexton from Michigan. She survives him as well as his two sisters, Wilma Struss (Iowa) and Ruth Brown (Florida) and his children, Kay Black (Salt Lake) and Dale (Colorado). He was a member of the LDS Church since 1984 and actively participated therein. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 27, 2012 at 11:00am at the Canyon Rim Stake Center, 3051 South 2900 East. Friends and family can visit Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30am prior to the service.
