Donald Ray Hughes, age 76, passed away on December 15, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He was born on June 22, 1938 in Central, Arizona to Hubert Jessie and Lois Marie Hughes.

He married Freeda Fern Henrie for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on December 9, 1961.  Don loved to fish and hunt and was an avid sports fan.  In his youth he was the bat boy for the Mexicali Eagles Minor League Baseball Team.  He graduated from LDS Business College in Accounting with honors while holding down a full-time job and supporting his young family.  He served his Country in the US Air Force stationed primarily in the Philippines.   He spent his career in USDA-AFCS in Aerial Photography, retiring as Deputy Director.  His career led him all over the world.  His most memorable assignment was setting up an Aerial Photography Laboratory in Morocco, Africa.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint and faithfully served in many callings including scouts, Bishop, Temple Worker as well as an Inner-City Missionary with his wife, Fern. He spent many hours with his grandchildren and loved to support them in their interests.

He is survived by his wife, Fern, his children Wesley, Laquita (Ed) and Richard as well as his four adored grandchildren:  Ted, Maxwell, Celia and Aidan.   Not mere names, but his life and happiness.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gregson Ward, 3151 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah, where friends and family can visit Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 and Friday morning 9:30 – 10:30 prior to the service.  Interment at Mt.
