Donna Jane Schipaanboord Denison passed away on October 19, 2026, leaving behind a family that adored her, along with a lifetime of laughter, love, music, faith, and memories that will be treasured forever.
Born on February 11, 1944, to Jacob Schipaanboord and Jane Hart. Donna was blessed with a beautiful heart, a quick wit, and a personality that could light up any room. She was hilarious, warm, welcoming, and a friend to everyone she met. She had a gift for storytelling and a sense of humor that kept everyone around her laughing.
Donna grew up in a neighborhood near Liberty park in Salt Lake City with her two brothers, Wayne and Dale. There, she met Darol Denison. Their lives grew together and they created a beautiful family and a lifetime of love. They were sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple on September 1st, 1966. This was the beginning of their 58 years, hand in hand. There was never Donna without Darol from then on. They purchased a home in Midvale where they lived together until 2025. That home was a place of belonging, family gatherings, friendship, and countless memories. It was more than a house; it was a home built on a lifetime of love.
Together, Donna and Darol raised their three children: Steven (Devanie) Denison, Lynnae (Andrew Hennings) Denison, and Laura (Spike) Amacker. Their family grew to include 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all part of the beautiful legacy Donna leaves behind. She built a family that laughed, cried, and truly loved.
Donna was a beautiful piano player who loved music, especially Elvis. Music was one of the many ways her personality shone through. Faith was also an important part of her life. Her devotion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was reflected in her involvement in the Midvale East 2nd and 3rd wards and through her mission with Darol in Palmyra, New York. Her testimony and love of the Gospel was evident in the way she lived her life.
Her passing leaves an immense hole in the hearts of her family, friends, neighbors, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. While her family and friends grieve the loss of such a light, they take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her sweetheart.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Darol; and her brother, Wayne (Tara) Schipaanboord. She is survived by her brother, Dale (Jan) Schipaanboord; her three children and their spouses; her grandchildren; and great grand-children.
