Doris Wilkins Counts

April 25, 1923 — August 24, 2012

"As I have loved you..."

Our Mom left us quietly on August 24th, 2012. She was the soul of our family and the hole she leaves is immeasurable. Born in Hunter, UT April 25th, 1923, the only daughter of Elwood and Bertha Moesser Wilkins and sister to Owen, Mack, and Ray. She graduated from Cyprus High and LDS Business College, along with dancing her way through WWII at the Coconut Grove in downtown Salt Lake.

On September 16, 1952 she married our dad, Cecil Phillip Counts in the Salt Lake Temple sharing 50 years, 3 children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Once we were old enough to watch out for each other, Mom loved working outside the home at Daynes Music, Zions Bank 1st South, and Covey Investments. Her retirement was spent taking care of her mother, her family, baking her famous cookies, and making quilts for the battered women's shelter, friends, and family. She was active in her church with various callings, but the one she loved most was as a guide on Temple Square for 3 years. She consistently lived and loved what she believed.

She leaves us behind: Brian Counts, Kathie Bowman, and Jeff Counts; grandchildren: Zak Steele (Sue), Shane Bowman, Starla Bowman, and Cris Schraegle; great grandchildren: Brady Rees and West Steele; brothers Owen and Mack, and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents in 1978 and 1991, brother, Ray in 1984, and our Dad in 2002. We are so grateful to Caroline and Mary Catherine, good friends to the end. We love you Mom. Brian, Kathie, and Jeff.
