I began my journey in this life on March 24, 1917, born to Ross and Rachel Bowen, in Salt Lake City, UT. After living briefly in Pennsylvania and New York, my family finally settled in Brigham City, UT where I grew up and graduated from Box Elder High School. I married my high school sweetheart, John M. Hansen, on September 4, 1934 in Pocatello, Idaho. Johnny and I were later sealed for time and eternity in the Logan LDS Temple.
I was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was especially proud of my pioneer heritage.
We were blessed with 3 sons, Gerald Ross, Donald Thomas, and John Scott. We moved to Ogden, UT in 1940 where we raised our family and Johnny launched his career with Coca Cola. I was proud to hold down the home front while Johnny served in the Navy during World War II. I worked at several small jobs before finally settling in at Utah Defense Depot in Ogden retiring 23 years later.
Following our retirements, we hooked up our Airstream trailer and spent the next few years traveling thousands of miles exploring and making friends wherever we went. We served as President and First Lady of Region 11 in the Wally Byam Airstream International Club. We spent many wonderful winters in Mexico and Arizona.
Following the death of my sweetheart in 1981, I spent my winters in Mesa, AZ and summers in Ogden and Salt Lake City. "Johnny was the love of my life" and with him, we raised 3 fine sons, served our country, worked hard, endured medical challenges, and enjoyed the happy days of retirement. I especially enjoyed being surrounded by my grandchildren and great grandchildren. They kept me young and active well into my senior years. My journey here ended April 28, 2010
I am survived by our 3 sons and their wonderful wives, Sharon, Cheryl, and Linda, 13 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. Those awaiting me in heaven include my husband, my parents, my brother Jerry, my sister Kathleen, my daughter-in-law Susan, my grandson Matthew, and my great grandson Scott.
My funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S 2300 E, Salt Lake City, UT. Those wishing to say good-bye may meet with my family at the mortuary from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. I will be laid to rest next to my eternal sweetheart in the Brigham City Cemetery.
