Dorothy Anne Dille Marchant, beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandma, GiGi, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on May 9, 2025 in Sandy, Utah. Born June 3, 1943 Murray, Utah to Dorothy Fransell Dittmer and Paul Hyrum Dille. Attended Jordan and Olympus High Schools. Married her high school sweetheart, John Dilworth Marchant, on September 22, 1960 Salt Lake City, Utah. Later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Together they were blessed with five daughters and one son.
Dorothy was employed as a School Lunch Manager for the Jordan School District for 35 years where she demonstrated excellence in leadership, cooking, creativity, and love for the children she nourished. She worked tirelessly to create special foods that she knew the children would love and will be especially remembered for her giant sugar cookies! Dorothy found joy in the simple things; spending time with family at her cabin and home in Fairview, Utah, a day filled with good music, fishing, watching movies (especially horror films,) good food, ice cream, salted rhubarb and green apples, swimming, going for long rides, sipping on a Diet Coke, ATV riding (she was fearless,) collecting beautiful things, or just lounging around with her pets whom she loved as children. She had a soft spot for animals and could always be counted on to take in any stray. In her later years she found great pleasure in visits from and hearing about the life adventures of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called her great-grandma or GiGi. They all knew where to find the treats she always had ready for them! She loved Christmas the most and found much joy in giving the perfect gift. But she never knew that the real gift she gave was that of herself. Dorothy spent her life as a devoted caregiver and served her family with all she had. Family was at the heart of everything she did. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a deep faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She loved serving the primary children and especially the youth of the church where her sense of fun and adventure were appreciated.
Survived by daughters Cheryl (Blake) Jensen, Trisha (Amy) Marchant, Shannon (Terry) Jenson, Kimberlee (Frank) Bice, and Kandace (Dominic) Dato, 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren who were the light of her life, brother and sister-in-law Richard (Julie) Dille, sister Susan Green, and her little furry loves Gracie and Jerry who brought her companionship and comfort. Preceded in death by her husband, John D. Marchant, son Todd John Marchant, grandson Justice Marchant, parents, and brother Dennis Dille.
