Dorothy Gene Soelberg

December 6, 1925 — June 15, 2007

Dorothy Beckstrand Soelberg passed away peacefully on June 15, 2007 with family at her side. Dorothy was born December 6, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alma Neil Beckstrand and Kathleen Pettit. She married her sweetheart, Charles L. Soelberg, in the Salt Lake Temple on August 28, 1947.

Dorothy graduated in nursing from LDS Hospital in 1946 and specialized in anesthesia in 1947. She worked as a loving Nurse Anesthetist at LDS Hospital, Primary Children's Hospital, Cottonwood Hospital, and Dixie Medical Center throughout her adult life. Her gentle hands helped bring countless babies into this world. Dorothy served faithfully in many auxiliaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as well as serving two full-time missions with her husband. Her greatest joy in life came from helping and serving others. An avid cook and homemaker, she always found time to take homemade goodies to friends, family, and neighbors. You could always count on Dorothy for food, smiles, and a listening ear.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Charlie and their three children: Kathryn (Joseph) Weeks, Craig (Corinne) Soelberg, and Cindy (James) Garrett. She has 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren whom she called "the lights of her life". She was preceded in death by sisters Erma Fahrni and Faye Higginson and her brother Harold Beckstrand.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 10:30 a.m. in the Mt. Olympus 7th Ward Chapel, 4407 S. Fortuna Way (3610 East). Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. prior to services at the church. The family would like to thank HCS Hospice Specialists for their loving help and care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the American Diabetes Association. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.holbrookmortuary.com.
