Dorothy Simpson Taylor

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Simpson Taylor on the morning of August 30, 2026 at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald James Taylor, parents Barlow and Erma Simpson, her brother Royal Simpson and her sons Ronald and Randy Taylor. She is survived by her sons Ray and Ryan Taylor as well as numerous grandchildren.

Dorothy was born in Salt Lake City, on April 19, 1937, to Barlow and Erma Simpson. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints. Her marriage to Ron Taylor was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They Shared 65 wonderful years together.

Dorothy loved to travel. Dorothy and Ron, with their friends, loved to go on trips and cruises to many places to enjoy nature and history. Along with her husband and sons, she enjoyed making memories on countless camping trips. The family loved to go to the Native American “Rendezvous Camping.” Her husband Ron, gave her the “Indian name,” Autumn.

Dorothy had many hobbies. She enjoyed crocheting afghans for her family and to decorate the house. She made ceramics and dolls. She took ceramics classes at the Senior Center. She loved to garden. She kept roses and flowers in her house and in her yard. She planted pine trees all over her yard. She loved collecting knickknacks of eagles, horses, dolls, Native Americans, angels and Christ statues. She loved watching the show "The Golden Girls," every day for years. Chocolate was her favorite food. She would eat chocolate and then was not hungry for dinner.

Dorothy loved Animals. Through most of her life she rode horses. As a child she trained her horses and taught them to do tricks. She always had dogs. She also had kept birds that she sometimes let them fly around the house. The birds would surprise her sons. It was always such a shock to have birds fly right over their heads.
