Douglas LeRoy Timothy

November 4, 1942 ~ December 30, 2023

Douglas LeRoy Timothy, 81, passed away on December 30, 2023, in Logan, Utah. He was well-loved and will be greatly missed by his family. We know his Shih Tzu, Annie, was there to greet him, jumped straight into his arms, and gave him a good licking.

Attended by only a midwife, Doug was born in Castle Dale, Utah, in 1942 to John J. Timothy and Annie May Amelia Ellison. Doug was the 11th child out of thirteen. He has seven brothers and five sisters. The five youngest brothers grew up in a three-bedroom cinder block home dug out of a hill in Cleveland Junction, Utah, a small town on the outskirts of Price.

Raised on the 80-acre ‘Homestead,’ Doug learned the value of hard work at an early age. On summer mornings, he helped irrigate the family garden by carrying water in buckets from the nearby canal. In the afternoons and evenings, he collected the eggs from the family chickens and helped with the feeding of the livestock, including the family horse, Amigo. This work ethic would stay with Doug for the rest of his life. He got up and went to work every day, no matter what, and he always made sure his family had a roof over their heads and a meal on the table.

Doug attended Elmo and Cleveland Elementary in Huntington, and North Emery High in Huntington.

After graduating from High School in 1961, Doug moved to Salt Lake, where he met his future wife, Linda Nielson. They were married on October 12, 1963, and were blessed with three children: Debbie Jo, Christine Sue, and Darrin LeRoy.

Doug loved camping and fishing and ventured out in all seasons and on all waters. He slipped away whenever he could, and to know Doug was to have trout in your freezer. We could always count on him for a good ‘fish story’ or two around the campfire on the family camping trip or the elk hunt.

Doug is survived by his sister, Dora Hunter, and his brothers, Lionel Timothy, Edwin Timothy, and Sherroyol Timothy. He is also survived by his children, Debbie Jo Timothy, Christine Sue Soule (John), Darrin Leroy Timothy (Sarah), seven grandchildren, and the mother of his children, Linda Nielson Timothy.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ameilia; his father, John; his siblings Lavar, LaNila, Richard, Junior, ViEva, Geneva, Shirlene, and Darrel; as well as his granddaughter Clarrissa Timothy.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the kind and wonderful staff at Williamsburg in Logan, Utah. The last six years of Doug’s life there were filled with incredible activities and a vibrant social life. He went on many day trips, overnighters, and even a cruise down to Mexico! He was looking forward to a second cruise to Alaska, where he planned to go deep-sea fishing for Salmon and Halibut, something he’d wanted to do his entire life. You took such great care of him. You are truly angels on Earth.
