Edith Virginia Gibson Bell passed away on 7 September, 2023 in Fort Dodge, Iowa after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Edith was born on 19 April 1936 in Durango, Colorado to Clifford Gibson and Birdie Ann Wilson. Her family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah when she was a young girl. She met her sweetheart while attending West High School. She married Norman Bell on 8 October 1954 in Farmington, Utah.
She was an exceptional seamstress. She made wedding dresses, costumes for dance recitals, blankets, and clothes for her children and grandchildren. She loved to crochet. She made tablecloths, Christmas angel ornaments, baby clothes, hot pads, and more. She loved camping, boating, and traveling with family. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many positions within the church, but she loved working with the small children the most–especially in the nursery.
She is survived by Kenneth Ray and Jolene Bell of West Jordan, Steven and Karen Bell of West Valley City, Dan Bell of Dayton Ohio, Lisa and Alan Stone, and Dusty Oviatte. She had 30 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Bell and son Norman Blain Bell and by her parents Clifford Gibson and Birdie Ann Wilson, four brothers, and three sisters.
Services will be held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary on September 22, 2023 at 12:00 noon with a viewing held prior to services from 10:00 to 11:45 AM.
Interment will take place at Salt Lake City Cemetery following the service.Service Information
