 Life Sketch –

Edna grew up in England. She lived in the town of Lowestoft, Suffolk, England. Lowestoft is a coastal town and civil parish in the East district of Suffolk, England. She spoke often about the fun she had growing up and the friends she spent time with. One of the activities she enjoyed most was dancing. Edna spoke of how kind her mother was and the cherished times they had together. She also had to grow up quickly when World War II zeroed in on her part of the world. She often recounted the fear as bomber planes flew over her town in route to London. She worked in a factory and supervised many women who were making supplies for the English army.

Edna joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints in 1959 and migrated shortly thereafter to the United States with her younger brother David and close friend Barbara. They originally put down roots in Bountiful Utah. Later they moved south to Sandy, Utah. It was while living in Sandy that Barbara and then David passed away from health challenges. Edna has been alone for the past 20 years where she developed a network of very close friends and confidants. Edna was a friend to all. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the end. She had a picture in her home that she often referred to of a cat hanging on a rope with the caption – “Lord, help me hang in there.” That was her moto that helped her to the end.

Edna had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed dearly by those who love and spent time with her. She spent most of her career working in a doctor’s office serving as an assistant and nurse and whatever else was needed. She loved her many dogs over the years, and we teased her about being a dog whisperer. Dogs seemed to understand Edna and were well behaved in her presence. Edna lived her final year at the Sunrise Senior Living Center in Sandy Utah. She loved everyone that worked at Sunrise and appreciated her many visitors. The day Edna passed, there were many tears at the Center for they truly lost a dear friend that had made their lives better by knowing her.
