Elaine Mackay Ottley passed away Friday, March 30, 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 22, 1926, the daughter of Vernon Winder and Abbie Kimball Mackay. Elaine graduated from South High School, June 1943 and graduated from the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. on June 12, 1947. She married Elden E. Ottley on March 11, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Elaine was an active member of the LDS church serving in many callings in Primary, Relief Society, and most recently as a Family History Specialist. She enjoyed researching stories of the lives of our ancestors. Her loving, warm and compassionate nature was extended to all. Her hospitality was enjoyed by many. One of her greatest joys in life was gathering all her family for parties. She is loved and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by four sons: Leon (Janice), Salt Lake City, Utah; Dale (Linda), Highland, Utah; Donald (Jana) South Jordan, Utah; David (Vicki), Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Sharon (Paul) Larson, American Fork, Utah; and Joanne (Richards) Hall, Yuba City, California; 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; sister, June Croft, Salt Lake City, Utah; and sister-in-law, Lois Flegal, Salt Lake City, Utah. Preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Elden. A special thank you to the hospice nurses for the kind and gentle service that they rendered during mom's illness. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the Rosecrest 1st Ward building, 3101 South 2300 East. Friends and family may visit on Tuesday evening, April 3, 2007 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East and from 9:00 A.M. to 10:15 A.M. at the church prior to services.
