Elaine Rawlings Johnson

Elaine Rawlings Johnson was born on February 11, 1926 to Calvin W. and Ruth C. Rawlings.  Elaine passed away peacefully on April 30, 2018.

Elaine graduated from the University of Utah in 1948; shortly thereafter, she married Morris Earl Johnson in the Salt Lake Temple on June 25, 1948.

As a mother, Elaine taught her children by example and her love for others.  As a grandmother, "Maga," the name her grandchildren affectionately called her, could always be counted on to provide a loving ear and heartfelt encouragement.

Elaine's life was one filled with dedicated service.  Few could keep up with the fervor and energy that was always motivated by her kindness and love.

Elaine was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  A master organizer and a humble servant, Elaine, along with her husband, Morris, served in various church capacities, including missions in Minnesota, the Salt Lake Inner City, and Hawaii, for which Elaine always kept a fond place in her heart.

As the effects of age slowed Elaine's ability to reach out to others, her desire to serve always burned bright.

Elaine is survived by her children: Kent (Celeste) Johnson, Kathy (Jeff) Karren, Teri (Brad) Jensen, Todd Johnson, and William (Andrea) Johnson, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, Morris, her sister, Joyce, and a granddaughter, Melanie.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Valley View 4th Ward, 2125 East Evergreen Avenue (3435 South).  Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Primary Children's Medical Center.
