Elaine Therese Robertson Collett

September 9, 1918 — July 2, 2011

"Dedicated Mother"

Elaine Collett was joyfully received home by her late husband, Clyde, and her loving parents and brother on July 2, 2011.

She was born September 9, 1918, in Salt Lake City, to Edith Foulger and Fred Robertson. In her teen years, she lived in the 3rd Ward with a great group of teens led by Bishop Brewster, who became lifelong friends. She graduated from South High, class of 1935.

She and her sweetheart, Darwin Clyde Collett, were married by David O. McKay, on May 15, 1939, in the SL Temple. They loved to travel abroad, camp, volunteer, and do things with their family. Their home was a place of celebration where everyone was welcome. Her home was always open to friends and loved ones, and her sense of humor was included at no extra charge!

Living a truly Christ-like life, she gave service to those in need, touching all with her gentle spirit. Her passion was genealogy, reading, geology, and archeology.

Elaine taught her children and those around her to appreciate nature and the beauties the Lord has created. She was a wonderful example of motherhood and nurtured her family. She loved the Lord with all her heart and taught her family this same love and strength. She was valiant to the end. Elaine is survived by her four children: Kathleen (LaVar) McAllister, Marcia (Jerry) Warner, Therese (Lynn) Bortolussi, and Mark (Lisa) Collett; 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandsons.

We want to thank the Brighton Gardens Reminiscence, Joe Spencer at Hearts for Hospice, and Sandy Regional Care Center, for not only caring for our mother, but loving her like a family member.

A Celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends and family can visit from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens. Messages and tributes to the family can be posted at: www.holbrookmortuary.com
