Elaine Mccormick Smart

Elaine McCormick Smart passed away peacefully February 6, 2012 in her home surrounded by family. She was born in Murray, Utah on December 23, 1925 to Melvin Eli & Lois Turner McCormick. She married Lesly Elgin Smart October 2, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

The theme of mom's life was leadership in service. Foremost was the love of her family as wife, mother, and grandmother. She served many years in the community as Director of Volunteer Services at the Salt Lake County Detention Center, Volunteer Director of Community Services Counsel, LDS Social Services, temple worker, service missionary, and endless years of service in all auxiliaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mom's countenance radiated a gracious, loving, giving warmth; she is truly "An Elect Lady of God"!

Elaine is survived by her children, Paul (Edie), Don (Susie), Rob (Jeril), Jon (Kim); daughter-in-law, Lyndy; 19 Grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gene, Barbara, Don, Marian, and Joan. Preceded in death by her husband; son, Randy; brothers, Henry and Reid.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10, 2012 at 12 Noon at the Butler 27th Ward, 1845 East 7200 South. Friends and family can visit Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church Friday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
