Elayne Baker Leslie

September 23, 1936 — October 19, 2022

Our beautiful mother, Elayne Baker Leslie, 86, passed away on October 19, 2022, from causes incident to dementia. Born on September 23, 1936 (second to her twin sister), to Kenneth Faye Baker and Rachel Wood Baker in Bicknell, UT. She loved growing up with her big family in Wayne County, and although she left there in early adulthood, Wayne County was always referred to as ‘home’ and held forever dear to her heart.
She married her lifelong companion, Kjae Boyd Leslie on November 19, 1960, in Bicknell, UT. They were later sealed in the Jordan River Temple. They spent nearly 20 years in Southern California, before returning and settling in the Salt Lake Valley.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved the church, her many callings and especially the Ward members she encountered through the years.
She found her passion and niche as the manager of Retirement Inn at Cotton Creek. She spent 20 years giving her heart & soul to the senior residents of this community. She retired in 2005.
In her free time, mom enjoyed reading, journaling, gardening, and taking long walks. She was a wonderful cook; from scratch, with attention to detail. Mom was happiest being with her family and we loved being with her. She was a joy to be around, always sweet and kind, ready to help anyone in any way she could, with love in her heart and a smile on her face. She was truly the most wonderful lady, and we will miss her deeply.
Surviving are her three children, Tracy (Glenn) Newson of Corona, CA; Ward Leslie of Murray, UT; and Rachel (Mark) Scharmann of Ogden, UT. She has seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Ben Baker and three sisters, Evelyn Back, Judy Evans and LuCinda Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Kjae Boyd Leslie, her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Service will be held at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S 900 E, Murray, UT. Graveside service to follow after Memorial service, Graveside service will be at Salt Lake City Cemetery, 445 North 980 East, Plot U-9, November 5, 2022, at 12:00 pm. For questions, please text (801)791-8979.
