Elbertine Helme

ELBERTINE HELME 06/16/1916 to 05/27/2007

After family had come to express their love, Hester Elbertine Neal Helme passed away peacefully Sunday, May 27, 2007. She was born June 16, 1915 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Dalton and Myra Matilda White Neal. She had two brothers and seven sisters. She married Clyde Obray Helme August 24, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were parents of five children. She was preceded in death by her parents, most of her siblings, and her husband Clyde.

Mom is survived by her children: Lynette(Robert Rich), Myrna(David Towers), Andrea(Terry Chatwin), Tom(Colleen), and Susan(Tim Branigan). She has 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Elbertine is also survived by her older sister, Frances Thomson.

Mother was positive, patient and a peacemaker. She knew poems or sayings for practically every occasion. Love for family and the Gospel filled her life. She was a great example to all of us in enduring to the end. She had a firm testimony of Jesus Christ and accepted many callings in the Church. Her favorite was working with Primary children. She served a full time mission following her retirement. She was also an ordinance worker at the Salt Lake Temple for many years.

Elbertine's life came full circle as she spent the last few years living with her remaining sisters at Cottonwood Creek Retirement Community. Our family is grateful for the care and attention she received from their staff.

Funeral services will be held at Rosecrest First Ward, 3101 South 2300 East on Saturday June 2, 2007, 11:00am. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30am to 10:30am prior to service. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.holbrookmortuary.com
