Elinor Johnson Zoellner, April 3, 1938 - April 15, 2026
Ellie passed away on April 15, 2026, at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born in Hurricane, Utah, in 1938, Elinor later moved to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, where she met the love of her life, her husband, Richard Walter Zoellner. They were married on May 22, 1958, and shared 68 years together, raising three kids in Bountiful, Utah.
In 1980, the family moved to Taylorsville, Utah, where she started a career in quality control at O.C. Tanner. While there, she eagerly bragged about her kids and grandkids to all the employees (and anyone who would listen). After 25 years of proud service, she retired in 2000.
Her greatest passions, however, were spending time with her loved ones and maintaining a weekly family dinner. Beyond that, her love of puzzles and treasured spoon collection from her travels became a defining part of her life. However, her favorite spot to be was at their recreational property watching the sun rise at Hideaway Valley. Later, she took to using Google Maps to vicariously track her family's travels around the world.
In their later years, caring for Richard as his health declined became one of her greatest acts of love and devotion. Elinor undoubtedly lived a full, loving, and active life every day until her diagnosis with pancreatic cancer on April 13, 2026 before passing away days later.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Zoellner, children Kevin (Lori) Zoellner, Kathy (Mark) Gordon, Ken {Cheree) Zoellner; sister Geraldine Oveson; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Zoellner, siblings Ena, Calvin, Kay Johnson, and parents Warren Marshall Johnson and Mary Ann Lang Johnson.
A viewing will be held at Redwood Memorial Mortuary on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. at 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah, followed by a graveside service at 12:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
"She was a good ole gal" - Richard Zoellner, April 15, 2026.
