Ellen Sue Lechtenberg

Ellen Sue Lechtenberg passed peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025 surrounded by family. She was born May 2, 1967 in Bountiful, Utah to Donald and Diane Millett. As a child, she had health challenges with sensitivities to the outside environment, however, developed a love for reading and family history at an early age. Ellen spent many summers at the family cabin with her siblings and enjoyed hiking, biking, fishing, and exploring.

After graduating from High School in Twin Falls she went to BYU where she studied dietetics, got married, and eventually did an internship in Michigan where her daughter Caitlin was born. Ellen relocated to Utah and began a career in dietetics and later completed additional training as a lactation consultant. She had a brilliantly successful career with many achievements including national research studies, managing milk centers, speaking at national conferences, authoring textbooks, independent consulting, and serving in many leadership roles. She most recently worked as a service missionary within the humanitarian department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with the Child Nutrition Effort to provide education and programs to improve health for women, infants, and children in undeveloped countries.

Ellen met Brent through work, and they developed a strong friendship that blossomed into a beautiful marriage on July 14, 2003 and were later sealed in the Bountiful, Utah temple. They were inseparable and went on many adventures including four wheeling, motorcycle rides, camping, fishing, and travelling. Ellen was eager to jump on the back of the motorcycle and loved to enjoy the outdoors with Brent. She also loved her precious garden with many trees; it was a sacred place for her. She managed health challenges and sensitivities meticulously and did not let them slow her down. Ellen was a devoted mother and loved her family dearly – Brent and Ellen embraced their three children as their very own, and the nine grandchildren that soon followed were the icing on the cake. She found joy in reading books, crafting, baking, and dressing up for Halloween with the grandchildren.

Ellen overcame much adversity in her life with a deep and abiding love for the Savior and the Gospel. Ellen was a master multi-tasker and developed that skill to accomplish things at an astonishing rate. She was known to ride a recumbent bicycle in her home gym while reading complex religious text. She was a lifelong learner with a spirit of optimism and gratitude. She was a calm, peaceful, and steady influence on her family members embodying many Christ-like attributes.

Ellen is survived by her husband Brent; and her children Caitlin (Michael), Ty (Adecca), Nate (Terra), and bonus son Chad (Traci); grandchildren including Chase, KC, Megan, Drew, Bob, Hannah, James, Quinn, Piper, Lauren, Calvin, and Henry; her mother Diane Millett; and siblings Gail Dawson, Donald Millett, Janet Pelca, Charlotte Leavitt, and Shelly Millett-Haile. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Millett and sister Judy Millett.

There will be a private viewing and family prayer at 10:00 AM at the Oak Hills Ward Chapel with funeral services Friday August 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Oak Hills Ward Chapel located at 455 South 1200 East, Bountiful, Utah. Ellen will be laid to rest at Memorial Lakeview Mortuary and Cemetery, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful Utah where she will await her sweetheart, Brent until they can be reunited.
