Emelie Ann Cox

September 18, 1939 — April 1, 2025

Emelie Ann Cox, 85, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born on September 18, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Ann lived a life marked by warmth, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to family and community.

Ann attended Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis, Indiana before completing her junior and senior years at Burris High School in Muncie, Indiana. She continued her academic journey at Converse College and later attended Indiana University, where she became a proud member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Her time at Indiana University helped shape the values of service and sisterhood that would guide her throughout her life.

Professionally, Ann served as the office manager for the leasing division of Kenworth/PacLease of Indianapolis, Indiana. She brought dedication and heart to her work, always giving her all to every task she undertook. Her colleagues knew her not only for her competence but also for the kindness and joy she brought into the workplace.

Following retirement Ann moved to Naples, Florida, which she called "Her Happy Place", surrounded by many good friends. She moved to Salt Lake City in 2023 to be closer to her daughters.

Ann’s life was deeply enriched by her passions and hobbies. She found joy in gardening, cooking, entertaining guests, traveling, dancing, walking on the beach, and caring for her beloved pets. Her gingerbread creations were legendary among those who knew her. Whether hosting a gathering or sending a thoughtful birthday card or phone call—never missing a date—Ann made sure everyone around her felt special. Her favorite term of endearment was “sugar,” a reflection of the sweetness she brought into others’ lives.

A devoted volunteer and breast cancer survivor, Ann gave back generously to causes close to her heart. She was an active participant in Reach for Recovery and dedicated time and resources to the Naples Women’s Club. Her commitment to service extended beyond formal organizations; she had a gift for turning friends into family through acts of kindness both large and small.

Ann was a faithful member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Naples, Florida—a spiritual home that nurtured her deep sense of compassion and community.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Carrie Cox and Ann C Workman; son-in-law Scott Workman; grandsons Chris Workman and Conner Workman; and sister Carroll Conner Spinks. Her memory is also cherished by her nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces whose lives she touched with grace and affection.

Ann now joins those who preceded her in death: her parents William T. Conner and Maudames Talbot Conner; siblings William T. Conner Jr., and James Willis Conner; and subsequently her sister Jane Brower King who passed on April 5, 2025.

Though small in stature, Ann made an immeasurable impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She never met a stranger—only future friends—and leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who carry it forward.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the American Heart Association.

May Emelie Ann Cox’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
