Our beloved father, Erhard Max Fleischer, 100, passed away December 9, 2011, at home under the care of his youngest daughter. Born October 4, 1911, in Weissenborn, Saxony, Germany, to Robert Fleischer and Marie Auguste Roessel. Married his childhood best friend and sweetheart Elsa Frieda Uhlig on December 23, 1933, in Freiberg, later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Erhard was a faithful, good, decent man who did his best under the circumstances he was dealt. He courageously brought his family out of communist East Germany in 1959 to settle in Salt Lake City where he built a better life. He leaves behind three daughters and one son: Ursula (Johann) Huettlinger, Edith (Karl) Degenhardt, Gerhard (Linda) Fleischer, and Helga Fleischer. Also 18 grandchildren and great-grandchildren into the fifth generation. Preceded in death by one daughter and son: Inge (Don) Vorwaller and Manfred (Fransiska, Linda,) Fleischer. Grandsons: David Fleischer and Alan Vorwaller.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in the Parley's LDS Ward Chapel at 1870 E. Parley's Canyon Blvd (2315 South). A viewing will be held Monday evening, December 12, at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the ward Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
